The Tomato Garden

Who doesn't love a good story? Moreton tomato is one of those stories. An apparent jam up tomato introduced by Harris in 1953. One of the parents was lost, then found and restored in a swap for bean seeds. Then discontinued and in 2008 reintroduced through an effort of Rutgers University. As of today, 6/20/2009, Harris lists the seeds as unavailable. Rutgers lists them as limited availability.

Moreton

10 plants in the ground and wish there were more. It is a soft tomato with perhaps a touch of being mealy but this could be from the early ones and they may get better. Good production and a great taste, Moreton is a winner here. Listed as an indeterminate with production at 70 days from transplanting. More info to come ...
